The village

Deia is a small village located on the northwest coast of Mallorca, between the towns of Valldemossa (4km) and the hamlet of Llucalcari (2km) and the town of Soller (12km).

There are many things to do in Deia, such as enjoying the breathtaking scenery by kayaking along the coastline, hiking or taking guided walks along the well UNESCO World Heritage site of the Tramuntana. Within the village one can also enjoy spa treatments in three different hotels (La Residencia, Es Moli or Es Puig), or order private spa sessions to one's home.

Things to see in the village include, the Parish Church of San Juan Bautista or the poet and novelist Robert Grave's home, which is now a museum. Outside the village one can also visit Son Marroig Museum, which used to be the estate of the Archduke Ludwig Salvator of the Habsburg - Lorraine family. There are tennis courts that are open to the public with the possibility of private tennis lessons and the entire area is very popular amongst cyclists. One can also arrange for boat hire.

Recommended restaurants in the village are Sebastian's nouvelle cuisine; Es Raco des Teix gourmet michelin starred restaurant; and Xelini’s mediterranean tapas. There are also two great fish restaurants at the local beach, Cala Deia, which are Can Lluch and Ca's Patro March, the latter opening for both day and evening dinning.
